The Surface Duo is not quite a smartphone and not quite a tablet, but it does represent what Microsoft’s (and now Google) sees and the future of productivity technology.
Beginning with secret meetings, and developing into a formal collaboration, the Surface Duo is Microsoft’s hardware with Google’s Android OS, and by most accounts it’s not a bad start.
Hardware design is great with flawless hinges (so much a problem in previous attempts from others); but it’s a little slow and very expensive at $1,400US. No UK launch dates or prices have been set yet.
However, if Microsoft and Google declare that it may be the shape of things to come, watch out for better versions, lower prices, and apps designed to take full advantage.
