ASML, a Dutch company, has pioneered a new ‘extreme ultraviolet light’ method of etching at a much smaller scale, so transistors are now only 25 atoms wide. This means billions more on a chip, and so much more power.
That is likely to allow 4k editing on your smartphone, along with smoother video intensive apps, all whilst consuming less battery power. And app developers will quickly see the potential to create even more powerful and innovative apps.
