Malware on new school laptops

The BBC has reported that new laptops received by a Bradford school continued Malware which Microsoft raised alerts for in 2012.

Apparently the Windows laptops contained Gamarue.I, a worm that communicates with Russian servers. Evidently it installs spyware that gathers information about browsing habits, as well as harvesting personal information such as banking details.

This is a reminder that we should all check laptops, even new ones, for malware before we commission and distribute them.
