The EU recognises the UK’s data protection standards as adequate, almost

Today the European Commission has issued a draft data adequacy decision, which is a significant first step and comes after months of discussions. It paves the way for continued free flow of data between the EU and the UK.

The UK has now urged the EU to fulfil its declared commitment to complete the technical approval process swiftly, so that final data adequacy decisions can be made as soon as possible. The current deadline is 30th April, or 30th June if both sides agree to the extension.

This would mean that UK data controllers find it much simpler when transferring personal data from the EU to the UK.
