Help with your governance

This month saw the Charity Commission wind up a military charity for misconduct and/or mismanagement in the administration of the charity by the trustees, most notably their failures in governance, their failures to protect the charity’s interests and its reputation, the lack of transparency around the charity’s arrangements with a subsidiary, and their failure to adequately manage conflicts of interest. So how can we make sure that our governance meets the standards that the Charity Commission set?

Well, there are a large range of resources available on the Charity Commission website https://www.gov.uk/guidance/charity-commission-guidance, and you should also benchmark your governance against the Charity Governance Code https://www.charitygovernancecode.org/en, but in addition our Autumn free webinar series will give some useful information, so do take advantage of that.
