NHS 111 service hit by ransomware attack

Advanced, the company which provides digital services to the NHS like patient check-in and the 111 service, has confirmed it has been the target of a ransomware attack, and that it would likely take 4 weeks to recover.

At present, it is unclear if any patient data has been compromised, and the company is working with the NCSC and ICO.

Unfortunately, the weakest link in a ransomware attack can often be people, like us, who inadvertently click on a link in a malicious but genuine looking email.

In the same week when a leading charity announced it had also fallen victim to a ransomware attack, we urge you to check that you are as safe as you can be, and take into account the wealth of great free advice from the NCSC, such as https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/section/information-for/small-medium-sized-organisations
