Could Corporates provide a source of overhead funding?

In a recent report, 81% of charities wanted corporates to provide unrestricted funding to help with essential needs such as recruitment and retention, salaries etc.

Leaving aside the obvious question of why the other 19% didn’t think this was a good idea, it got me thinking about cases for support, and what we ask for.

Sometimes we can get into the mindset that supporters are only interested in helping fund the frontline work that we do, but that is simply not true. Certainly, we may need to explain why we need unrestricted funds, and how that is just as essential if we are to deliver the outcomes for our beneficiaries, but I know it can be done. We have both helped charities produce cases for support that include this, and contributed to overhead costs for the charity we support, Flame Cambodia https://www.flamecambodia.org/
