Charity Commission publishes social media draft guidance – have your say

The Charity Commission has published some draft guidance for trustees on how charities should use social media, and has asked for comments.

You can see the guidance and take part in the online survey (open until 14th March 2023) at https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/draft-guidance-charities-use-of-social-media, and we would encourage you to do so.

You can also use the draft guidance (the final version is due in the summer) to benchmark your own social media policy, and if you don’t yet have one, please do get in touch as we can help you create one as a part of our Data Protection Review service. You can contact us in the normal ways, by using the contact form at https://zorva.info/about-us/contact-us/ or booking a free 20-minute insight call at https://zorva.info/free-insight-call/

Early feedback from the sector on the draft guidance is generally positive, but a number of senior figures are concerned that there is not enough clarity over the use of personal social media accounts, and whether it encroaches into peoples private lives.
