61 organisations and 2,900 workers took part in a UK trial of a 4-day working week, between June and December 2022. Included in these were 7 charities, and 3 say they are seriously considering making the 4-day week permanent.
In the trial, staff were paid 100% of their salary for 80% of their usual hours, in exchange for a commitment to deliver 100% of their normal productivity.
There can be challenges in changing working habits, and one report is of a charity significantly reducing the length of meetings (perhaps a good thing) but it is certainly something to consider.
