Twitter to charge for 2FA and API

If you have a Twitter account, you may have noticed that 2FA has been turned off unless you have paid for Twitter Blue, the blue verification tick.

We appreciate that there needs to be a gap between free and premium paid-for features, but we do wonder if security at this level is the way to do it?

Furthermore, Twitter has announced that using their API will not be free any more either. This may impact you if you use your Twitter credentials to sign in to another service (not something we would generally recommend). You might want to check your Twitter connected apps and make provision just in case that facility is interrupted in future.
