The ICO has published a statement on age assurance and its commitment to ensuring that the internet is a privacy-friendly and safe place for children.
You can read it at https://ico.org.uk/about-the-ico/media-centre/news-and-blogs/2026/05/ico-statement-on-age-assurance/, and it prompted us to ask two questions:
- Are you sure that your online services are safe for children?
- If you do not offer any children’s services, do you make that clear?
Do remember that the ICO has also published its Children’s Code at https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/uk-gdpr-guidance-and-resources/childrens-information/childrens-code-guidance-and-resources/.
