In the first couple of weeks since Action Fraud launched its Suspicious Email Reporting Service (“SERS”) more than 160,000 emails have been received from the public, and 1,400 links to bogus sites have been taken down.
So far, the topics have included:
- COVID-19 products including testing kits, face masks and even vaccines
- Links supposedly from various GOV.UK sites (especially HMRC)
- TV Licencing renewals
You can contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 but suspicious emails can just be forwarded to report@phishing.gov.uk which offers an automated service, and you will be helping prevent others from falling victim.
Action Fraud also has useful information if anyone in your organisation has been affected by the easyJet breach
