The government seems to be gearing up to focus on data protection, including the appointment of Sir Chris Bryant MP as the new Minister of State for Data Protection and Telecomms.
The King’s speech included a Digital Information and Smart Data Bill (DISD) as well as a Cyber Security and Resilience Bill.
There is no confirmation over the exact details yet, but let’s hope that the extension of soft opt-in to non-profits is finally included.
