The Fundraising Regulator has updated its advice regarding the impending soft opt-in changes in the Data (Use and Access) Bill. You can read their latest blog at https://www.fundraisingregulator.org.uk/more-from-us/news/preparing-soft-opt-in but just one word of caution for the moment.
They suggest that ‘Soft opt-in will not apply to data collected by charities before the date when that part of the new legislation comes into force.’ but the ICO has not published anything on this yet. Therefore, I recommend we wait until the ICO issues a statement, since as the regulator it is their interpretation that counts.
