According to the Remember A Charity report we mentioned recently, 67% of those leaving a legacy gift in their Will have not told the charity.
We know of several charities that make considerable efforts to find out, and we also understand why people might not want to tell them. Perhaps some reasons include:
- Not wanting the charity to ask for more or for regular gifts etc
- Not wanting contact from the charity
- Recognition that their wishes may change
- It’s a private thing
Getting the balance right can make the difference between a successful legacy programme, or not. What is your approach?
