SORP changes come into effect

After an extensive consultation, the 2026 Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) was published in last October, changing what charities must include in their annual accounts. Most of the changes came into effect on 1st January and we hope you are ready for them.

Civil Society have a good summary at https://www.civilsociety.co.uk/finance/sarah-twist-charities-statement-of-recommended-practice-implications-detailed.html and gov.uk directs us to https://www.charitysorp.org/.

Naturally this is a key governance issue, but also has implications for fundraisers, as it may affect how and when some generated income is recognised; we understand this may be a particular issue for legacy fundraising.
