We make charity donations instead of sending greetings cards at Christmas time, as many organisations do. This week I received a letter from one of the charities and it stuck in my mind for a few good reasons:
- The timing was ideal.
- It was written from one person to another, and did not feel like I was part of a mailmerge.
- It talked more about how our last year’s donation was still working.
- It did mention that they hoped we might consider repeating the donation but that was almost an aside.
We had already decided to support this charity again, and the letter just reinforced our decision.
It also reminded me that another charity we supported, never even send a thank you message.
We hope that you spend time on saying thank you, and in relevant ways. One client gives donor the option of optng out of thank you notes, in order to save costs (they are by post), and this shows a respect for the donors.
What do you do?
