Nominet forced away from commercialism

In what is being seen as a victory for its members who did not want Nominet to move in a more commercial direction, its CEO and chairman, along with some other members of the Board, have stepped down.

You might recall an insight article a while ago, which reported that Nominet has been purchased by a venture capital group and some were concerned that this would lead to higher prices for non-profit domain renewals.

A PublicBenefit.uk campaign was started and momentum grew. So it will be interesting to see Nominet’s new direction, and leadership. The Register has a good article with more background, and you can read it here.
