This Bill includes the ability for charities to rely on a version of soft opt-in for sending marketing messages by electronic mail to individual subscribers, without needing consent in some circumstances.
This has significant implications for fundraising and supporter communications.
The Bill is back with the Commons, having started in the Lords, and has entered the committee stage, aiming to report back by 18th March. It does seem that the government is really pushing to get this into law, perhaps even before the summer break.
It looks like our ‘Soft opt-in – a great opportunity for charities’ webinar on Friday 14th March will be our most popular ever.
There is still plenty of time for you to register, and to invite your colleagues too, using the link https://zorva.info/free-webinars/.
