Data (Use and Access) Bill and Soft Opt-In

The Data (Use and Access) Bill has its report stage scheduled for this week, which should provide the last opportunity to amend the soft opt-in provisions that we have widely reported on.

So by next week’s insights, the legal position should be clear, and there have been no notified amendments to change the way it would work, so far. We should also have a better idea of when the changes will become law.

Hopefully the ICO will then quickly issue some guidance on the two unknowns, relating to retrospective changes and contact details from third parties such as fundraising platforms.

We are running webinars for groups and clients, and you can also book a free 25-minute call to discuss how it affects you. There are things you should already be doing, to consider and plan for the changes.
