28% of smaller charities have no reserves – how about you?

In a written submission to the House of Lords committee that will scrutinise the Charities Bill, the Charity Commission has revealed that the number of smaller charities (income of under £500,000) with no reserves had risen to 28% in July 2021. At the same time, there have recently been an additional 8,000 applications to register a new charity.

We hope that your reserves policy is regularly reviewed, and actual reserves monitored closely, but if you would like to refresh your thinking on how to develop a pragmatic reserves policy, just get in touch.
