Royal British Legion move to plastic-free poppies

The Royal British Legion has announced that it will switch to selling plastic-free poppies from this year. The new poppies will be recyclable as they are made from 100% paper from responsible sources, with 50% having been recovered from the waste used in the production of coffee cups.

Not only is this good for the environment, but it gives a great message to communicate with the public too.

As the new plastic-free poppy will be sold alongside remaining stocks of the current poppy until they run out, RBL have agreed that the plastic poppies can be returned to Sainsbury’s (a RBL corporate partner) for recycling.

This really does sound like a well-thought-out launch, and you can find out more at https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/remembrance/about-remembrance/the-poppy/new-plastic-free-poppy
