Your Meta AI searches might be made public – did you know?

BBC Tech had an interesting report that Meta AI users prompts and the results might be made public, and you can read it at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0573lj172jo.

Before a post is shared, a message pops up which says: “Prompts you post are public and visible to everyone… Avoid sharing personal or sensitive information.” So people are being made aware to some degree.

But, given the personal nature of some of the queries, and the risk of sharing personal data or commercially sensitive information, BBC Tech questions if people know that their searches are being posted into a public “Discover” feed on the Meta AI app and website. This information might also be traced to their other social accounts through usernames and profile pictures.

Users can opt to make their searches private in the account settings, but I wonder how many people would actually bother?

This stresses again the need for you to have a Generative AI statement or policy. If you would like to know about free or low-cost sources, just get in touch.
