Zoom is such a staple of our normal working lives (and of course Teams is popular too) that it’s noteworthy when a software update has something really useful in it.
The latest Zoom update, available to free and paid for accounts, includes the ability for the host to share their screen whilst people are in breakout rooms. Previously this was not possible, and it is such a great new feature.
It means that you can share a screen, perhaps of breakout instructions, and choose to continue sharing the screen whilst people go into their breakout rooms. This will certainly save pasting instructions into Chat or sending separately.
The only thing to remember is the order in which you have to do things. You need to open the breakout rooms first, and then share your screen, at which time you will see an additional option alongside ‘Share sound’ and ‘Optimize for video clip’.
